Job Description
Lead a 30‑day baseline survey for the AFYA UZAZI JUMUISHI RMNCAH initiative in Kakuma refugee camp, overseeing design, data collection, analysis, and reporting for health system strengthening.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project documents and prepare an inception report with methodology, tools, sampling strategy, and work plan.
- Design, translate, and pre‑test quantitative and qualitative data‑collection tools.
- Recruit and train enumerators, ensuring gender balance and inclusion of refugee and host community members.
- Conduct household interviews, health‑facility assessments, FGDs, and KIIs using the CommCare digital platform.
- Maintain strict data‑quality and ethical standards throughout fieldwork.
- Analyze quantitative data with SPSS or STATA and qualitative data through thematic content analysis.
- Draft, validate, and finalize the baseline report, incorporating stakeholder feedback.
- Facilitate a validation workshop with IRC, Ministry of Health, and key stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Demography or Biostatistics (minimum BA/BSc/HND).
- Minimum 10 years experience conducting baseline or evaluation studies in RMNCAH, health systems or humanitarian settings.
- Proficiency in digital data collection (CommCare) and quantitative (SPSS/STATA) and qualitative analysis.
- Strong knowledge of Kenya Health Information Systems (KHIS) and UNHCR HIS.
- Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with USAID, EU or UN‑funded assessments (preferred).
- Proven work with marginalized/vulnerable populations and multi‑stakeholder environments.
