Job Description

Pula seeks a remote Data Analyst in Africa to manage and analyze survey data, ensure quality, support field staff, and develop processes, requiring 2+ years NGO experience and Python/R skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure surveys and allocate field agents using the in‑house data collection tool.
  • Perform data quality checks following standard operating procedures.
  • Provide support to the support desk and field staff, ensuring effective communication.
  • Use data analytics and project knowledge to identify risks and issues.
  • Deliver regular updates (daily, weekly, ad‑hoc) to the manager.
  • Propose solutions to field problems and draft training materials, protocols, and other documents.
  • Assist in survey creation and participate in sampling or other CCE/Survey work.
  • Use designated tools and software proficiently.
  • Maintain honesty, transparency, and open communication.
  • Determine appropriate methods for data quality checks, analysis, and operations assessment.
  • Identify gaps in SOPs and suggest improvements; develop new processes and procedures.
  • Train field staff on new systems and processes; evaluate effectiveness of implemented processes.
  • Document findings, prepare reports, and make recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, or Information Systems.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a fast‑paced NGO environment.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and data‑visualisation tools such as Power BI or similar.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and R (mandatory); knowledge of SQL preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Familiarity with mobile data‑collection technologies (e.g., CommCare, Kobo, SurveyCTO) and new applications/innovations.
  • Ability to translate technical data into presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with partners and colleagues.
  • Self‑driven, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent multitasking, prioritisation, and deadline‑management abilities.
