Job Description
Lead Melanin Kapital’s carbon finance strategy, develop green loan products, oversee credit team, manage client and partner relationships, and ensure portfolio growth aligned with carbon monetisation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement carbon‑backed loan products and green‑financing strategy.
- Design financing structures integrating carbon revenue streams into credit assessment and repayment models.
- Identify climate‑finance opportunities across renewable energy, clean cooking, agroforestry, nature‑based solutions, and sustainable supply chains.
- Lead and supervise the green financing/credit team, overseeing credit memos, underwriting notes, and investment proposals.
- Ensure quality, rigor, and consistency of credit documentation and present recommendations to internal committees.
- Manage key client relationships for high‑value carbon‑backed transactions and structure loan terms.
- Coordinate with offtakers, aggregators, and climate‑finance partners on carbon contracts and revenue‑sharing agreements.
- Oversee pipeline reporting, portfolio monitoring, and performance reviews for green‑lending products.
- Support continuous improvement of credit processes and collaborate with risk and compliance teams.
Requirements
- 5–10 years experience in credit, project finance, climate finance, structured finance, or sustainable lending.
- Strong leadership experience managing teams and driving execution.
- Proven experience structuring financing solutions for SMEs, enterprises, or climate‑aligned projects.
- Excellent financial modelling, credit analysis, and transaction‑structuring skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with committees, partners, and senior stakeholders.
- English language proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of carbon markets, carbon monetisation models, or climate‑finance mechanisms (preferred).
- Experience engaging carbon offtakers, climate investors, donors, or development finance institutions (advantageous).
- Fluency in Swahili, Portuguese, and/or French is a plus.
