Job Description
Lead HR strategy and operations for CIMMYT Kenya, advising senior management, ensuring compliance, managing talent, compensation, and employee relations, while driving culture, development, and regional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as principal HR advisor to the Country Representative and Management Team.
- Develop and implement Kenya HR strategy aligned with global priorities.
- Identify capability gaps and design talent‑management strategies with the Global Talent Team.
- Provide data‑driven HR insights and workforce analytics.
- Lead change‑management initiatives including restructuring, growth, and policy implementation.
- Oversee end‑to‑end HR operations for locally recruited staff (recruitment, onboarding, contracts, performance, relations, separation).
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan labour legislation and CIMMYT policies.
- Manage statutory compliance, payroll obligations and reporting.
- Govern employee benefits and performance management processes.
- Lead training needs assessments, onboarding, and leadership development initiatives.
- Develop and implement the annual Country HR work plan and budget, localising global policies.
- Lead, coach and develop HR staff, setting performance objectives and building team capability.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology or related field.
- Minimum 10 years progressive HR experience, with at least 3–5 years in senior HR leadership.
- Proven ability to collaborate across multi‑country environments in Africa.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour legislation and employment practices.
- Experience leading HR teams and partnering with senior leadership.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- High integrity, discretion and sound judgment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
