Job Description
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate ICT courses, develop curricula, mentor students, conduct research, and support departmental administration at The East African University in Nairobi, Kenya while leveraging industry technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality instruction across ICT and computing subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Design, develop, and continuously update curricula, lecture notes, lab manuals, tutorials, and assessment materials.
- Use innovative, inclusive teaching methods (face‑to‑face, blended, online) and LMS platforms such as Moodle or Blackboard.
- Mentor and advise students on academic performance, career pathways, and professional development.
- Supervise final‑year projects, research assignments, and capstone projects.
- Conduct examinations, invigilate, and mark student work with integrity.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, curriculum review, accreditation, and quality‑assurance activities.
- Contribute to departmental research, scholarly publications, and grant‑writing.
- Assist the Head of Department with administrative duties, event coordination, and record‑keeping.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
- Strong academic record covering programming, networks, databases, and systems analysis.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- At least 24 publication points, with a minimum of 16 from refereed journal papers.
- Minimum of three years documented teaching experience at a university, college, or polytechnic (undergraduate or postgraduate level).
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or ongoing doctoral research in a relevant ICT discipline.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, Microsoft Azure, CompTIA, Oracle OCP, AWS Solutions Architect/Developer/Cloud Practitioner, CISSP, PMP or PRINCE2, or other recognised industry certifications.
