Job Description

Provide Tier 2/3 support, maintain servers, networks, and cybersecurity for UNFCU in Nairobi, handling user issues, system configurations, backups, and ensuring 99.9% uptime across critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold UNFCU’s mission, core values, and service excellence behaviors.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely remedies.
  • Provide onsite or remote support for users in global UNFCU offices.
  • Install, configure, and maintain applications and system software.
  • Support marketing websites and digital banking technologies (Apple OS, digital signage, Adobe suite, IIS, .Net, HTML).
  • Configure, patch, and maintain Windows domain user accounts and physical/virtual x86 systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows, Linux, macOS), routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Manage Active Directory, user permissions, and train staff on new systems.
  • Implement cybersecurity protocols, patch endpoints/servers, manage VPNs, and conduct vulnerability scans.
  • Design and execute regular data backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Use monitoring tools to ensure 99.9% uptime for critical systems and advise on hardware/software upgrades.
  • Provide documentation for system configurations, run books, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in Credit Union training and development programs.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and UNFCU’s Code of Ethics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional IT work experience.
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, and macOS server administration.
  • Tier 2/3 technical support and troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of networking (CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+).
  • Knowledge of security (CompTIA Security+, ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity).
  • Ability to configure and maintain Windows domain accounts and Active Directory.
  • Ability to implement cybersecurity protocols and conduct vulnerability scans.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MCSA, CCNA, CCNP, RHCSA, CompTIA Server+ certifications.
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Microsoft Azure Administrator.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V).
  • Banking experience is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with digital signage (Codigo) and Adobe graphical design suite.
