Job Description
Responsible for managing hospital laundry operations, including sorting, washing, ironing, record‑keeping, equipment maintenance, and ensuring clean, stain‑free linen for patients and staff, while reporting shortages and damages.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all incoming items to the laundry, record pieces, and check status (stains, torn, color, material, etc.)
- Ensure clean linen is always available and prevent shortages
- Remove stains from linen issued to departments and patients
- Account for all items/equipment in the laundry and explain any shortage or spoilage
- Sort various clothes/linen for different treatments and washing
- Wash, dry, and iron all linen and patients' clothing according to label instructions
- Report shortages and recommend replacement stock when needed
- Keep records of any damage to items while in the laundry
- Report condition of patients' clothing to enable replacements
- Maintain a clean and hygienic laundry room
- Ensure machines and equipment are in good working order; report defects
- Perform any other duty assigned by the Housekeeper
Requirements
- Certificate/Diploma in Dry and Laundry Techniques
- Minimum 2 years experience as a laundry attendant, preferably in a hospital setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Able to move intermittently during working hours
- Possess necessary strength to lift linen and operate machinery
- Able to handle pressure and stand for long hours
- Very flexible; can work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends and holidays
- Maintain liaison with other departments
- Ready to serve with a smile
