Job Description
The Matron oversees dormitory life, ensuring learners’ health, hygiene, discipline, and well‑being, managing records, coordinating meals, handling minor illnesses, and supporting school staff in Nairobi.
Key Responsibilities
- Help learners settle into school life with minimal complaints.
- Communicate menu or special diet changes to kitchen staff.
- Report poor behavior or indiscipline to school management.
- Ensure learners' clothes are clean, repaired or replaced as needed.
- Keep school management informed about learners' health and maintain accurate health records.
- Look after learners with minor illnesses and ensure medication is taken as prescribed.
- Report sickness cases timely and update records.
- Assess illnesses/injuries and refer to the school nurse.
- Transport learners to clinic and arrange emergency treatment if needed.
- Maintain accurate learner records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Certificate or diploma in Community Health, Nursing, or related field
- First Aid Training
- Minimum 5 years working experience in a learning institution
- Mature age
- Passion and commitment to work with children/students
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in guidance and counselling (preferred)
- Professional Certificate (if applicable)
