Job Description
Lead strategic private‑sector partnerships and business development for IRC’s Economic Recovery & Development program in Nairobi, guiding fundraising, proposal creation, and cross‑functional coordination across multi‑million‑dollar initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Influence and guide strategic private‑sector engagement across fundraising priorities (30%).
- Work with Associate Director, ERD, and I@S Leadership to develop and implement business development strategy, create strategic positioning materials and donor engagement plans.
- Represent I@S priority areas in agile teams and thought‑leadership groups; shape donor pathways and align technical and fundraising teams.
- Collaborate with GPLs, Regional Leads and fundraisers to shape project ideas, messaging, materials and funding pitches.
- Provide high‑level advisory input to GPLs and fundraising teams (Business Development, 30%).
- Maintain portfolio of “ready for scale” priorities; develop compelling materials with Marketing & Mobilization team.
- Support creation of stewardship plans for donors; lead or support proposal development processes; participate in donor meetings as technical expert.
- Maintain knowledge of IRC ERD technical approaches, operating contexts and sector trends.
- Develop and operationalize standard ways of working and process workflows for cross‑functional projects (Internal coordination & process improvements, 20%).
- Coordinate cross‑functional meetings, ensure timely decisions and follow‑up actions; create information‑sharing systems with Technical Units and High Value counterparts.
- Provide portfolio management support for strategic partnerships (20%): engage across grant duration, ensure donor requirements and compliance, design long‑term engagement strategies, provide post‑award project management support as needed.
Requirements
- 6‑7 years related work experience, preferably with a large international NGO.
- Outstanding communication, relationship management, writing and presentation skills.
- Experience with global ERD programming in low‑resource settings.
- Experience with fundraising and grants management processes.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate ERD programming and strategy to technical and lay audiences.
- Experience fundraising for ERD or related programming; quick learning of technical content.
- Proven track record delivering sophisticated proposals and projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, social work or related area, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in strategic partnership development, program design, fundraising and communications.
- Experience developing and implementing multi‑million‑dollar partnerships.
