Job Description
Lead safety, health, and environmental initiatives while assisting maintenance management, ensuring ISO 45001 compliance, conducting risk assessments, training staff, and overseeing equipment maintenance at PZ Cussons in Nairobi.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor company‑wide safety, health, and environmental policies.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and devise mitigation strategies.
- Implement and maintain the ISO 45001 system.
- Maintain the Hazard Identification Tracker and ensure timely closure of identified hazards.
- Design and deliver SHE training programs for employees.
- Investigate workplace incidents and recommend preventive measures.
- Monitor SHE performance metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Organise annual medical check‑ups for staff.
- Implement the planned maintenance calendar and maintain the Asset Register.
- Ensure regular calibration of equipment where needed.
- Maintain and manage service contracts.
- Collaborate with production to ensure all machinery complies with safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues affecting machinery or facility operations.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to integrate safety and maintenance standards into daily operations.
- Promote sustainability by aligning maintenance practices with environmental and safety goals and track sustainability data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (BA/BSc/HND acceptable)
- Minimum 3 years practical experience in an industrial setting
- At least 1 year experience in SHE management
- Conversant with ISO 45001 management system
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Certificate (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or other technical maintenance certifications) preferred
