Job Description

Tax Accountant at Galana Energies ensures compliance with tax regulations, optimizes tax efficiency, manages filings and audits, and provides advisory support across Kenya and the East African region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tax advice and guidance on all tax matters with respect to government regulation and applicable law.
  • Optimize tax efficiencies and mitigate tax exposures within the control environment.
  • Provide timely advisory on impending legislative changes and their impact to the business.
  • Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all tax returns.
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits.
  • Maintain tax balances on the general ledger.
  • Conduct tax reviews and assessments to identify areas of improvement.
  • Enhance communication on tax matters and conduct internal training where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Economics, Law (LLB) or related field.
  • CPA (K) or ACCA certification.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in the oil & gas industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of tax accounting procedures and principles.
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws; exposure to regional tax frameworks is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in report writing.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
